Tick value is what one tick (the smallest price step) is worth for one lot, in your account currency. Profit or loss = number of ticks moved × tick value × lots. It depends on the contract size and, where the instrument is priced in another currency, on the exchange rate.
If one tick on an instrument is worth $0.01 per lot and the price moves 500 ticks in your favour, a 2-lot position gains 500 × $0.01 × 2 = $10. These figures are illustrative; check the specification for real values.
