Margin is shown as a percentage of the position's value. 1% is the same as 1:100 leverage; 2% is 1:50.
Rates work like tax brackets: each band's rate applies only to the lots inside that band. Ten lots at 1% plus five more at 2% is not 15 lots at 2%.
Forex and metals rates are shown at the default 1:100 and scale with your account leverage: at 1:500 each rate is a fifth. Indices, commodities, crypto and futures CFDs keep the same rates at any leverage.
To open a position you hold 1% of its value as margin. For a position worth $400,000, 1% is $4,000.
Band by band. For example, if an instrument's rate is 10% for 0–15 lots and 12.5% for 15–25 lots, then on 20 lots the first 15 lots use 10% and the other 5 use 12.5%. Your total margin is the sum of the two. The bands for each instrument are in the table above.
For forex and metals, yes: the rates here are at the default 1:100, and a higher leverage lowers each band in proportion (at 1:500, 10% becomes 2%). For indices, commodities, crypto and futures CFDs the rates are fixed and do not change with leverage.
Crypto CFDs and other instruments not listed use one fixed margin rate, shown on each instrument page. It does not change with your account leverage.
